About
Yona Harvey, the owner of 1000 Islands Helping Hands, has lived in Leeds and the Thousand Islands for many years. While working for a local financial institution, Yona was speaking to a customer who had recently undergone surgery. The customer related how difficult it was for her to go shopping for groceries and clothes when she was getting tired so easily. “It would be nice if the shopping mall came to me,” she remarked. Her comments planted the seed for 1000 Islands Helping Hands.
Yona continued to hear similar stories from customers about their difficulty running errands, finding a trusted companion to take them to doctor's appointments or to take them for a fun day out at the mall. Some customers needed help for themselves while others were looking for help for loved ones. Yona decided to assist people with these needs, and thus 1000 Islands Helping Hands was born.
Yona is trustworthy, having worked in banking for more than seven years as a trusted employee. She has provided volunteer service many times in the local communities by assisting local food banks and toy drives and through serving in her church, teaching and planning events for children, youth and adults. Yona has a current First Aid Certificate, a Vulnerable Sector Police Check and a clean driver's abstract.
Yona Harvey is passionate about helping busy professionals, seniors, those who are unable to drive and those who are recovering from recent illness or surgery. She wants to help these members of the community help themselves and their loved ones to focus on those things that matter the most and to enjoy a better quality of life. She accomplishes this by providing personal errand services, senior accompaniment, transportation services and much more!
